This box is in great condition and has been stored very carefully since the time of purchase- since these boxes are very large they occasionally get a minor crease or the tape at the end becomes loose due to the weight and the store has to retape the ends, but this box is one of the best ones I could find in my local store as you can see from the photos! Anytime I purchase a box from my local Lego store if it looks like they have had to reseal the ends as is fairly common due to the weight of the contents on these huge sets and anytime I buy a set from them without the original seals intact, I have the store open &verify the included bags and I double check the included bags with them to verify that all of the correct bags and parts are included to ensure there are no suprises later. This was particularly important on this set since some of the factory sealed 10197 sets were missing a small bag of parts and instead included a small unnecessary bag of extra parts so I had them carefully check any lot numbers I purchased to be sure that if they were from an affected lot, they provided the replacement parts at that time to be sure there were no suprises down the line. So the bulk of the sets I purchased were not from the affected lot but when I found out about some of the sets missing parts, I had the ones I purchased checked and any sets that I had that were affected, I had them provide replacement pieces for the missing parts so when buying my Lego 10197 sets, my buyers can be assured that they will not receive a set without a very necessary bag of parts to build this awesome set! Any of the sets that I purchased from them that were missing these parts, Lego provided me with a replacement set of the missing parts with I added to each set that needed them at the time, so you can be assured that all necessary bags are included with each of the 10197 sets I have. If the set in question is one of the ones that was originally missing that small bag of parts, it will contain the new replacement set of those parts that Lego provided for me containing the same parts & in that case, the set will also have a small bag of extra parts included that you won't need when building this set but that you will be able to add to your general Lego collection to use for other projects. Either way, since I had Lego check &verify & provide new replacement parts for any 10197 sets I purchased that were missing them, you can be assured that the sets I have will not be missing that small bag of parts that a number of 10197 sets are missing so you will have what you need to build this set without the hassle of having to contact Lego and wait for oversease shipment of the replacement parts. It's such a bummer to start the build only to discover a few steps in, you're missing a needed bag of parts, so I carefully verified with Lego that each of my 10197 sets have the expected parts and for any sets I bought that were originally missing them, I have already obtained and included the replacement parts so you don't have to worry about that with any of my Lego 10197 sets.
This set includes not only the very cool historic looking modular building but a 30’s style fire truck, some furnishings inside the building (If I remember correctly, I think this may have been the first modular they introduced that had furnishings included in the set.), Lego firemen and of course a fire-dog to keep them company and serve as an adorable mascot. Shipping will be via my choice of USPS or Fed Ex since this requires a very large box & will depend on my work schedule, lines, transit times & what looks to work best. If you require a particular shipper, I will do my best to accommodate, but there is a chance that method may cost more. Shipping posted is for shipping within the lower 48 states to normal addresses without a rural surcharge. If you are located in an area without regular Fed arc delivery, shipping may be higher than posted.
