WHAT IS GLYCOLIC ACID:

Glycolic Acid is an Alpha-Hydroxy acid (AHA) that is a naturally occurring substance originally derived from Sugar Cane. Glycolic Acid is the most popular and widely used AHA, having the smallest molecular size of all the AHA?s. This allows for a deep penetration into the skin, making it adaptable and beneficial for collagen production, clearing the pores and smoothing the skin! Glycolic 30 Gel Peel is also enhanced with Retinol. Green Tea and Chamomile Extracts (anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial) and Cucumber Extract (rich in vitamins and minerals provide anti-inflammatory and skin tightening properties)

HOW DOES GLYCOLIC ACID WORK:

Glycolic acid works on the top layer (epidermis) of the skin, exfoliating dead skin cells and breaking down and dissolving sebum and other substances that bind the skin cells together. Secondly, Glycolic acid stimulates collagen production by reactivating the skin renewal process in the living cells. The reactivation of the natural renewal process will lead to an overall improved skin clarity.

WILL MY SKIN PEEL AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT:

Superficial peels will not necessarily induce a visible peel, and each persons. skin can respond differently. Some people may notice visible slight peeling/ flaking frequently, and others probably not, as the exfoliation is at a cellular level and not always apparent to the eye; however peels can cause a tighter and firmer complexion and/or dryness, flaking and redness for anywhere from 1 hour through to several days. There is no way to predict an individual response to any treatment as the persons individual skins. physiology, hormones, hydration and lipid levels, environment and previous skincare regime all play a role. If dryness and tightness occur, please ensure you are drinking lots of water! During the Glycolic Peel, your skin will feel warm and prickly. It will also probably turn a little red. If stinging or reddening of the skin occur, please remove the peel, and reduce the application time of your next treatment. To avoid any reactions, it is advised to spot test the area.

IS THERE ANY DOWN TIME AFTER THE PEEL:

There is typically no down time after using the peel. Your skin could become irritated if you attempt to exfoliate at a faster rate than new skin can be generated. This is based on each individuals. skin sensitivity and the frequency of applications.

IS THE GEL PEEL SAFE:

Yes, if the instruction leaflet is followed correctly. Our Gel Peels are manufactured in a controlled environment, a Registered Cosmetics Laboratory- so you can rest assured you are receiving a legimate and safe product.

CHOOSING A TONER AND MOISTURISER:

If the Pre-Peel Primer is not available to you, you may choose to wipe over the skin after cleansing and prior to the peel with a witch hazel or similar toner to remove any excess oils from the skin. After the peel, dry the skin and apply a gentle (non-active) moisturiser. Non-active refers to: no added active ingredients such as Retinol, Glycolic etc as this may irritate the skin. A gentle, non -active moisturiser is recommend in the few days also following a peel.

CAN I APPLY THE PEEL TO ANY AREA:

Gel Peels can be applied to any area of the body, and although very little is absorbed through the skin, you should not apply the solution to more than 30cm x 30cm of the body per day. If you would like to treat larger areas, treat different areas on rotating days.

DO NOT USE:

Do not use if you are currently on Ro-Accutane products (Isotretinion) or have been in the last 12 months.

*Do not use on open wounds, cuts, sunburn and do not use if you are pregnant, breast feeding, have any auto-immune disease or are under-going Chemotherapy or Radiation.

*Do not use on Psorasis, Excema or Dermatitis. Do not use on Fitzpatrick 5-6 skin types. (skins that are dark olive and above skin tone.) Eg- African-Americans, Indians and Middle Eastern decent.

PRE-PEEL:

*Avoid waxing, shaving or hair removal in the area for 48 hours before peel, and 7 days between laser and IPL hair removal and peel application.

* Discontinue Vitamin A, Retin-A products at least 48 hours before peel.

*Avoid self-tanning in the area, exfoliating products, masks and scrubs 48 hours before peel.

*Avoid sun exposure and tanning 7 days prior.

PEEL INSTRUCTIONS:

NOTE:

All skins will react differently and a professional should evaluate the skin to determine length of application.

1. Before applying any AHA or BHA product to the face, apply a small patch test to either the inner forearm or under then chin for 1 minute to test skin sensitivity. Wait 48 hours before applying to the face.

2. Cleanse the skin well and preferably wipe over with Pre-Peel Primer.

3. Shake well, and quickly apply 2-3ml of peel solution to the desired area, avoiding the eyes and mouth, and leaving at least 1cm of area from the eyes, lips and mucus membranes. We recommend starting with the forehead, following with down the sides of the face, the chin, nose and then cheeks. Solution can be applied with a fan brush, gauze pad, cotton pad or 2 cotton tips.

4. Allow initial application time of 1-3 minutes, and then remove with copious amounts of water and/or Post Peel Neutraliser. Pay attention to removing solution from areas around the eyebrows, ears and creases around the nose. Adjust time as tolerance increases. Do not exceed 10 minutes. A warm, tingling feeling indicates the product is exfoliating. If redness or irritation occurs, discontinue use.

5. Pat dry with cotton or soft paper tissue (do not rub the skin or use abrasive facial cloths)

6. IMPORTANT- Apply a thin layer of gentle, non-comedogenic moisturiser with an SPF 30+.

7. Repeat weekly or fortnightly for 6 consecutive treatments. Rest the skin for 2 weeks, then you may start another 6 week cycle. Certain skin conditions may require several treatment cycles. Use in conjunction with regular sun protection and moisturiser. 100% Pure Hyaluronic Serum is recommended for optimum results.

POST PEEL:

*Apply a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturiser twice a day and avoid all active products and ingredients (such as Glycolic, Vitamin A, Retin-A, Vitamin C etc) for several days, or until skin returns to normal.

*Avoid exfoliating products and scrubs for several days and until skin returns to normal.

*Avoid exercise, excessive heat and saunas for several hours following the peel.

*Do not peel, pick, scratch or abrade the skin or use exfoliation/face masks until the skin returns to normal.

*Where possible- delay the use of make-up for 24 hours or use very lightly (mineral makeup is preferred) *Avoid laser or IPL treatments on the area treated for a minimum of 7 days.
