ORGANIC BLACK HIMALAYAN SALT (KALA NAMAK - FINE)
Kala Namak (Black Himalayan Rock Salt) is a salty and pungent-smelling condiment used in South Asia, notably India. Its rather strong Egg smell comes from its high sulphur/sulphite mineral content, which is especially desirable if your diet prohibits you from using animal products as it makes a wonderful substitute for egg. It has high concentrations of magnesium and iron, and is very suitable for Vegans.
This salt is ground to a fine coarse like texture, perfect for food. Unlike the name suggests, "Black" Himalayan Salt is not actually black, rather the colour can vary from light to very dark brown. This finely ground Salt is rich in minerals, it has a tangy almost smoky taste and can heighten the flavour of foods, especially deep fried snacks and foods also salads, dals and chaats.
Kala Namak (or nimak) is used as a salty, strong condiment and in various savoury dishes. This Black Himalayan Salt is considered a cooling spice in ayurvedic medicine and is sometimes used as a laxative and digestive aid. It is also believed to relieve intestinal gas and heartburn.
