The Podmore Walker & Co. pottery, (Company being Enoch Wedgwood), Tunstall, Staffordshire, was operational from 1834 - 1859. Well Street, circa 1834-1853; Amicable Street, circa 1850-1859; and Swan Bank, circa 1853-1859. A complete restyling in 1860 as Wedgwood & Co., with Enoch Wedgwood becoming the senior partner. The company trademarked their wares "Pearl Stone Ware" as it was more durable than earthenware and fired at a higher temperature.

The plates are in the "Venus" pattern. The central motif consists of an English landscape of mid-1800's architecture and formal garden with lake, including trees, an English couple, ornate walls, large urn and swimming swans. The wide border decorated with leave covered vines in delicate looping designs. The plates measure 9" across and 1 1/4" in height at the outer edge.
