than 125 years
ago.
- The coverage area extends
from Kashmir to Gujarat, east to
Assam and the Ganges River, with an inset of Burma.
- There is excellent detail
throughout, including railroads,
cities, towns, natural features, and the boundaries of political
divisions, with portions under
native government colored yellow.
- Among the named places and features on the map are
Calcutta, Bhopal, Rajpootana, Boroda Dominions, Nepal, Himalayan Mountains,
the Indus River, Chittagong, Mandalay, Bengal, Kathmandu, Allahabad, Bhotan, Jeypoor, Jhansee, Rawalpindi, Agra, and Delhi.
- Topography is drawn in
relief, and water areas are
tinted in a delicate blue wash.

The image area measures 41.8 x 58 cm [16½" x 22¾"]. Longitude is
measured from Greenwich. There are two distance scales: British miles
and Indian kos.
- The map was compiled and engraved by Adam &
Charles
Black,
Edinburgh, and published by Charles Scribner's Sons in The
Scribner-Black
Atlas of the World, New York, 1890.
- Condition: It is in excellent
condition, with no
marks, rips, or tears. It is printed on a heavy
paper, with a vertical center fold, as issued.
