A Nikkormat EL classic black manual focus 35mm SLR body in full working order, with new light seals. The EL was the first Nikkormat with auto exposure, powered by an easily available 6v 4LR44 battery concealed under a hatch below the mirror. It's functionally very similar to the Nikon FE, with match needles indicating selected and metered shutter speeds for aperture priority and metered manual exposure. It works with Pre AI and AI/S lenses with "rabbit ears" to link with the aperture lever.

Cosmetically it has signs of moderate to heavy use, as indicated in the pictures. There is scuffing of the black finish in places.  Paint wear and brassing mainly affect the baseplate which is also somewhat uneven. There's a dent to the top of the prism housing, not affecting operation. Otherwise no obvious dents or scratches and the leatherette covering is excellent and fully attached.

Exposure metering works and is accurate. The battery check light comes on. Light seals and mirror bumper have been replaced. Self timer, mirror lock up and flash shoe / terminal are all working. I've run a scrap film through and the film advance, rewind and frame counter are all fine. The electronically timed shutter operates correctly, slow speeds sound good and the shutter blades are excellent. The focusing screen is clean and bright, with a few faint dust specks only. The mirror is clean and undamaged. The screw in eyepiece is present.

With a Nikon body cap and third party strap (not pictured).
