DESCRIPTION:

This bulb is called Pink Mystery.  There is a different bulb named Mystery that is a darker pink, similar to Hannibal's Dwarf (or Dwarf), but neither Mystery nor Pink Mystery has ever been sold by another seller eBay.   We grow over 1000 different crinum varieties, including about 350 of our own hybrids.  Quite often the identification of crinum can be very confusing.

Although Pink Mystery, Mystery and Hannibal's Dwarf look somewhat similar in photos, they are VERY different in color and size.  Pink Mystery grows much taller (over twice as tall) and has more white in the flower and the flower is also larger, plus many other differences.  Mystery is darker than Hannibal's Dwarf and somewhat larger.

Pink Mystery blooms as an open, light pink trumpet, 3 ½” long and about 5” in diameter with very heavy, wide, white striping on the keel of the bud covering about 1/3 of the keel.  The center inside half of the flower is almost white with light pink on the outer half towards the tips. There is a very thin white line running up the middle of each sepal.  Pink color is not quite uniform, but has more pink than Summer Nocturne, for example.   So far we have recorded as many as 13 buds on scapes up to 38 inches tall.  Bulbs will only grow to slightly over 3" in diameter.  Crinums produce more blooms and taller scapes as they mature and finally stabilize.  These bulbs form offsets very rapidly and can produce upwards of 50 bulbs in 5 years, so it is a very good investment.

BACKGROUND:

We don't know the parentage of this bulb other than it clearly has crinum americanum or crinum erubescens in its parentage.

GROWING CONDITIONS:There is probably nothing special to say about this crinum other than it will do better with lots of moisture.  Anything with C. americanum, or other aquatic/bog plants in their parentage will do well in moist conditions and can usually survive actually immersed by an inch or two of water.
