A collection of 16 newspapers 1 magazine all original apart from item 1 & 2 most have small tears on edge of pages pencil pmark top right on some of these and we have given a condition report as accurately as possible. We did list these separately 5-10 years ago but now want to clear. A number cover historic events of World History. (This could be a reprint copy) Daily Herald London Wednesday June 23rd 1924  – Announcing the resignation of Stanley Baldwin the Prime minister  and the New Prime minister Ramsey McDonald. It also talks about the Death of Leaning in Moscow.  This is a 4 page newspaper. Minor tears to the left hand side on the pages, discolouring and minor tear to the spine. We think this is a reprint copy

Daily Mail January 21st 1936 – Death of King George V. Original Newspaper 20 pages announcing the death of King George V. Sadly the front page due to age the pictures of King George V has various tears on it. The spine has minor tears and tears on the front few pages. This is a particularly rare newspaper and an original one from that period that will appeal irrespective of damage to the newspaper. 17 x 23”

Daily Mail 22nd January 1937 

This paper has features concerning King George 5th death 2 days before.  Edward the 8th announced as King. This newspaper was dealing with the Lying in State and the Funeral of King George the V and features photographs of Edward the 8th and his brother who had just returned back into the country to attend the ascension meeting. January 22nd 1937. Size 17 x 23 ½”. 

Yellow colouring on lots of the pages, minor tear on the spine and the pages have small tears and miscolouring due to the age. Pencil mark top right of front page 

 

Daily Mail Thursday January 23rd 1936 – with details about George the V funeral and also the proclamation of  Edward the 8th as the New Monach. 17 x 23 ½” . 16 pages 

London Evening News – January 24th 1936. The laying in State of King George V. Minor tear on front page, the spine is fine discolouring and minor tears on some of the pages including the back page. Size 17 x 23 ½”. 

Daily Mail Saturday 25th January  1936 – which  covered the funeral plans times and the laying in state of  King George V. Pencil address top right had side of paper. The spine minor tears and front page minor tear and edges of pages also.  Considering the age of the newspaper the paper is in very good condition, although starting to discolour – 16 pages. -

Daily Mail 27th January 1936- Day before the funeral of King George V – 16 pages paper in okay/ good condition, despite some discolouring with no major tears, just tiny little marks on the spine and on the front page some fold tears

Daily Express Newspaper May 8th 1945 for the Last Day of War. This is covering the proposed celebrations with Churchill appearing. This seems to be a 4 page special it does not appear to be a reprint  

The Telegraph Journal – April 7th 1949 – American Newspaper Headline covering Britain retaining the highest Taxation rate. American newspaper carrying American news of the Day 

Weekly Scotsman May 25th 1955 – The main story covering the Royal family with a very young Princess Anne and Prince Charles on a Royal outing. Also covered the Walker Cup, played at St Andrews, America defeated Great Britain. Between David Blair the Scottish Golfer, I Caldwell. 12 page paper with minor tears to the spine and on the folds at the edge of the pages. Good condition 

Friday 22 july 1955 part of a paper pages 13-20 of the Scarbro Mercury this seemed to be a pullout originally taken from the full paper this was celebrating 100 years of the Mercury and stories and pictures relating to the history of the previous 100 years mild tearing on edge of pages 

July 21st 1969 – Liverpool Echo celebrating man landing on the Moon.  One of the first papers to report the landing on the moon. 6 pages, 3 actual pages of the newspaper the second page inside has ¼ page missing. There is tears creases damage to the spine, considerable bad colouring and tears on the right hand side of the normal pages. It is in bad condition, however, but looking at what it was celebrating an historical moment in world history. 

Daily Mail Thursday September 6th 1979 – Story covering the funeral of Earl Mountbatten and picture of Prince Charles shredding a tear for his uncle. 48 page newspaper discolouring to the front and back, generally in good condition. Various pictures and features about Mountbatten funeral.   

Daily Express Millennium issue – 1st January 2000 – 80 pages with major stories around the Millennium.
