Diese Silbermünze widmet Lettland 2019 dem berühmten lettischen Maler, Grafiker und Bühnenbildner Niklāvs Strunke (1894–1966). Die Vorderseite der Münze bildet ein Fragment des Gemäldes "Pašportrets ar lelli" (Selbstbildnis mit Puppe; 1921) von Niklāvs Strunke sowie das Prägejahr '2019' und die Inschrift 'LATVIJA' ab. Die halbkreisförmig angeordnete Inschrift NIKLKEVS STRUNKE befindet sich am unteren linken Münzrand. Die Rückseite zeigt das Gemälde "Cilvēks, kas ieiet istabā" (Mann betritt einen Raum) aus dem Jahr 1927 und die Nominale '5 EURO'. Niklāvs Strunke, der seit 1914 an Ausstellungen teilgenommen hatte, hatte sich zu der Zeit, als Lettland seine Unabhängigkeit erklärte, als einer der originellsten lettischen Modernisten etabliert. This Latvian silver coin is dedicated to the popular Latvian painter, graphic artist and stage designer Niklāvs Strunke (1894–1966). The obverse of the coin features a fragment of the painting "Pašportrets ar lelli" (Self-Portrait with a Doll; 1921) by Niklāvs Strunke. The inscription NIKLĀVS STRUNKE is arranged in a semicircle at the bottom on the left, the year '2019' and the inscription 'LATVIJA' are placed on the right. The reverse depicts another popular painting "Cilvēks, kas ieiet istabā" (Man Entering a Room; 1927) and the denomination '5 EURO'. Having participated in exhibitions since 1914, Niklāvs Strunke had firmly established himself as one of the most original Latvian modernists by the time Latvia declared its independence.
