A fantastic blazer jacket by Ralph Lauren featuring a native american style pattern in lovely autumnal colours. The blazer collar and the jacket cuffs have a velvet trim. The jacket also has 2 internal buttons to secure a streamlined fit. The jacket itself is quite structured and has the quintessential 80's darts and shoulder pads. The attention to detail on the jacket really sets it apart, such as the pattern matching on the back and the covered buttons at the front. This jacket even has pockets!

Only selling because it doesn't fit me :( Please see below for measurements.

ERA:
I've been able to date this jacket to between 1979 and 1985 due to the labelling and the style. The ILGWU label dates the jacket to no later than 1995, but the style better suits early to mid eighties. Ralph Lauren started to move production overseas in the mid eighties which also supports the theory that this is from earlier in that decade. If you know more about this jacket, please let me know, I'd be interested to find out.

It is possible that this jacket comes from the 1981 Sante Fe Collection as it certainly fits with the style and era.

..." 'Santa Fe' drew inspiration and references from the American Indian, with the accompanying press kit stating:

"Just as Lauren is known for his classics, he is also known for his ability to capture the essence of the American cultural experience...Drawing on the patterns and colors of the Navajo Indians, the American Southwest, and the pioneering spirit of the plains and mountain women, this is a profoundly influential and innovative statement about our [American] roots and our culture... This is beyond fashion; it is what we are about as Americans."

The collection firmly established Lauren as an arbiter of American style. Designs from it were circulated in the nationwide American press, including Vogue, New York Times, WWD (multiple times) and even internationally in British Vogue." ...
