ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION

Print Titled : 'Day Of The Dead XXIII'

The Day of The Dead is celebrated mainly in Mexico but also in other Latin cultures. It is a day for celebrating the life of all your loved ones that have departed for the afterlife. This painting was inspired by this celebration, which is something that I find interesting. Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte is a female folk saint in Mexican and Mexican-American folk Catholicism. To her devotees this iconic character represents healing and protection as well as a safe delivery to the afterlife.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Generoso Napoliello (Gino)

Born in Italy surrounded by fine art, Gino loved to paint from a very young age.
Having found a passion, he went on to further his education and learn all aspects of art.
Gino first studied for 5 years at the college of art and design in Eboli.
He then moved on to study a further 4 years at the Academy of Fine Art in Naples, where he earned a degree in fine art.

20 years later, having travelled all over the world, Gino has painted for many exhibitions and worked on regular commissions. Whilst living in the UK he also established his own art gallery ArtiZen where he exhibited work by local artists as well as his own work.

Gino now works mostly from his studio Il Quadro which is located in Turkey, a beautiful country where he finds the solitude and inspiration that all artists desire.
