Grecian design with a "pillar base" and a laurel on the front. Laurel is a symbol of triumph and is worn as a chaplet around the head, or as a garland around the neck. The symbol of the laurel wreath traces back to Greek mythology. Apollo is represented wearing a laurel wreath on his head, and wreaths were awarded to victors, both in athletic competitions. Measures about 9" high x 5" in diameter at the brim x 3 1/2" square base. Stamped on the bottom in blue. Excellent condition with some manufacturing flaws common with hand made pieces consisting of 1 spot on the brim that is absent of paint before firing and one near one corner of the base absent of paint before firing.
