Starting in the 1100s the Group who's name was The Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon were endorsed by the Catholic Church in 1129, existing in its then form for more than 200 years and known for protecting the poor and weak and doing all sorts of charitable work. Growing in both popularity and strength they became adept at fighting and crusading and went on to win many battles. There was also a non fighting "arm" of the Knights who administered to the needs of those who the charity was aimed at. They used an early form of banking and were responsible for many structures being constructed across both Europe and within the Holy Land itself.

The order took a loss of faith and mistrust began to spread when rumours of secret initiation ceremonies and rituals began to be spread. This played into the hands of the king of France, Philip IV he had become indebted to the order and was struggling to repay this debt. Using public mistrust he order the Knights to be imprisoned and then under torture he gained false confessions and ordered the Knights to be burned at the stake. During this period, early in the 1300s the King then encouraged Pope Clement V to order the Knights to disband this was carried out in 1312, with the quick removal of its legitimacy the Order is presumed to have gone "underground" and is now said to manifest itself as the Order of Freemasons, who have continued to support their number and their local communities by donating charitably to them. In many cases this is done anonymously and the Order retains its low profile but still continues to follow the path set out more than 700 years ago.

We have here a set of fridge magnets depicting some of the Knights and their insignia that we have chosen for their variety and also the fact that most sections are represented here.

We also offer all these images on key rings and 25mm badges too.

We have a range on coasters as well these are in our Ebay shop.

Many thanks for the time that you have given to this listing and we hope that you have found both pleasure and some badges that you wish to collect.

Regards and best wishes Stuart & Jo x
