W211 / W219 Kinematikadapter
Die Mercedes W211 und W219 bis Modelljahr 2008 besitzen unterhalb des Radios ein Fach, das sich mittels einer Taste (Warnblinkereinfassung) elektrisch öffnen lässt. Es beherbergt entweder den CD-Wechsler oder ein Ablagefach. Da das Vorhandensein des Faches nicht offensichtlich ist, wird es auch "Geheimfach" genannt. Weitere Bezeichnungen sind Kinematikfach, Ablagefach oder CD-Wechslerfach.

Technischer Hintergrund
Der Befehl zum Öffnen und Schließen des Faches wird über den CAN-BUS vom AGW (AudioGateWay) freigegeben, das sich entweder im Kofferraum (Audio20CC, APS50, COMAND/APS) oder im Gehäuse des Radios (Audio20CD) befindet. Grund dafür ist, dass der eventuell verbaute CD-Wechsler abgefragt werden muss, um sicherzustellen, dass keine CD in den Bewegungsraum des Faches ragt.
Bei fehlendem AGW bleibt diese Freigabe aus und das Fach bleibt geschlossen. Der Kinematikadapter übernimmt diese Aufgabe, in dem er auf Anforderung die entsprechende Freigabe über den CAN-BUS liefert.
FAQ
- Kann der Kinematikadapter Steuergeräte durcheinander bringen?
Der Kinematikadapter sendet nur auf Anforderung (Tastendruck) auf dem Innenraum-CAN-BUS. Es gibt keine dauerhafte Sendefunktion, die andere Teilnehmer des CAN-BUS blockieren würde. - Kommt es durch den Kinematikadapter zu Meldungen im OBD?
Nein. Es werden Meldungen abgelegt, die aber auch ohne Kinematikadapter auftreten würden - etwa, dass das AGW fehlt. Der Kinematikadapter kann kein komplettes AGW simulieren. - Kann der Kinematikadapter die Fahrzeugbatterie leeren?
Nein, wenn die Zündung aus ist, wird der Kinematikadapter nicht mit Strom versorgt. - Kann der CD-Wechsler einzeln ausgebaut werden?
Ja, der CD-Wechsler kann aus dem motorbetriebenen Tray ausgebaut werden und durch ein Ablagefach-Einsatz ersetzt werden. - Kann ein Mopf Bj. 2008-2009 nachgerüstet werden?

Up to model year 2008, the Mercedes W211 and W219 have a compartment below the radio that can be opened electrically by means of a button (hazard warning flasher enclosure). It houses either the CD changer or a (very small) storage compartment. Since the presence of the compartment is not obvious, it is also called a "secret compartment." Other names are kinematics compartment, storage compartment or CD changer compartment.
You have a third-party radio, for example an Android radio from Erisin, XTrons, Joying, Eonon or Pumpkin? Are you planning to upgrade to Comand / NTG 2.5? Or have the double DIN headunit from another manufacturer?

Installation steps
With your purchase, you will receive detailed, illustrated instructions via PDF. In a nutshell:
- Remove gearshift lever cover and ashtray compartment (both clipped)
- Remove kinematics unit (2 Torx screws)
- Clip insertion tool to vehicle connector
- Clip the kinematics adapter into the kinematics unit
- Insert plug
- Done! Reinstall kinematics unit, ashtray, and shift lever cover.

Technical background
The command to open and close the compartment is approved via the CAN-BUS by the AGW (AudioGateWay), which is located either in the trunk (Audio20CC, APS50, COMAND/APS) or in the housing of the radio (Audio20CD). The reason for this is that the CD changer, if installed, must be interrogated to ensure that no CD protrudes into the movement space of the compartment.
In the absence of AGW, this approval is not given and the compartment remains closed. The kinematics adapter takes over this task by providing the corresponding approval via the CAN-BUS on request.
FAQ
- Can the kinematics adapter mess up control units?
The kinematics adapter only transmits on request (button press) on the interior CAN BUS. There is no permanent transmit function that would block other nodes of the CAN BUS. - Does the kinematics adapter cause messages in the OBD?
No. Messages are stored that would also occur without the kinematics adapter - for example, that the AGW is missing. The kinematics adapter cannot simulate a complete AGW. - Can the kinematics adapter drain the vehicle battery?
No, when the ignition is off, the kinematics adapter is not supplied with power. - Can the CD changer be removed individually?
Yes, the CD changer can be removed from the motorized tray and replaced with a storage tray insert. - Can a Mopf built 2008-2009 be retrofitted?
