The Tiffen 3 Coral Solid Color Filter adds a warm,
pale orange coloration across the entire image and helps to subdue
overly bluish casts. The solid color design makes this filter
well-suited to pairing with other filters for further control over the
appearance of imagery. The 3 color density provides less coral
coloration than the 4 density, but more than the 2 density filter.
This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves
laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and
grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter is
compatible with series 9 filter holders.

Considered to be both color-correction and color-effects filters, Coral filters are used to warm cool lighting situations such as overcast days and scenes in open shade. Different strengths of Coral filters can be used during filming to achieve the same degree of apparent warmth under different light conditions. This makes them particularly useful for maintaining a consistent color balance throughout an entire day of shooting, or to create a sunset or dawn effect during the day. Coral filters can be used to under-correct a scene in order to create an excessively blue look for added drama, and can also be used as warming filters to create other dramatic effects.
This filter is available in strengths of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. These strengths achieve a range from subtle to heavy effect.
