The waterproofing membrane should be bonded to an even, load-bearing substrate with an appropriate adhesive Our Rs Adhesive works a treat. The tiles are laid directly on the shower liner with the appropriate bedding for the chosen tile or stone. Other suitable trowel-applied covering materials or plaster may also be used.

Living Heat Shower Liners are a waterproofing membrane and vapour barrier bonded to a tile covering, e.g. for use in swimming pools and spa areas, as well as for commercial applications with high humidity levels.

Vapour barriers are suggested for moisture-sensitive substrates such as wood, plasterboard, and gypsum plaster.

All our Shower liners are compatible with our Under Floor Heat Mats, Loose Cables, and Thermal Insulation Boards.

Installing Decoupling Matting:

1. The substrate must be free of bond-inhibiting components, i.e any dust or debris, and be load-bearing and even. Any unevenness in the substrate must be leveled, before the application of Decoupling Mats.

2. The type of adhesive used to apply Decoupling Matting depends on the type of substrate. The adhesive must bond to the substrate and mechanically anchor the fleece on the underside of the matting. Our RS Flexible Adhesive is a very good choice. But in any case please verify the compatibility of all materials before installation.

3. Lay the adhesive to the substrate using a 3 x 3 mm or 4 x 4 mm notched trowel. This will allow an even bed of adhesive for the decoupling mats.

4. Individual courses of Decoupling Mats are cut to size, from a larger roll. Solidly embed the anchoring fleece on the underside of the matting into the adhesive and ensure that the entire surface is bonded and immediately work it into the adhesive using a float or screed trowel. Please check the open time of the bonding adhesive to ensure it remains the correct consistency throughout. When initially positioning Decoupling Mats, it is advisable to align and position the matting while slightly stretching it. This is best done with an additional person. Tightly butt the individual membranes together. Note: If the matting is only installed as an uncoupling membrane, the side edges and ends of individual courses do not need to be sealed with Aqua seal tape.

5. Once installed, Decoupling Matting must be protected against heavy loads to avoid loosening it from the substrate. We advise placing running boards (especially in the centre of mats) to protect the membrane. Other protective measures, such as shielding from direct sunlight or protection from precipitation in exterior applications, may also be required. Carefully remove any moisture that may have gathered in the indentations of the studs before applying the thin-bed tile adhesive.

6. Immediately after the Decoupling Matting is installed, the tiles can be set using a thin bed of tile adhesive that matches the requirements of the covering. It is recommended to fill the square cavities with the smooth side of the trowel and establish a regular pattern in the adhesive with the notched side of the trowel in one application. And that the tiles are fully embedded into the adhesive. Fully embedded installation of tiles following the applicable professional standards is particularly important for coverings with high traffic loads and in outdoor areas. The notches of the trowel must match the format and thickness of the tiles so that you achieve solid bedding. The adhesive bed over Decoupling Matting should not exceed 10 mm.
