The diameter of the circular file is selected depending on the height of the cutting tooth and the pitch of the saw chain. Step marking is indicated on the outer wall of the depth gauge.

Sharpen the chain at home with round files of the following diameters:

► for chains with parameters 1.1 mm and 1.3 mm (width of the chain link) and 3/8 "pitch (such chains are equipped with STIHL MS 170, 180, 181, 211, 230, 250 chainsaws) - a file with a diameter of 4 is used mm;

► for chains 1,6 mm, 3/8 "(saws STIHL MS 290, 361, 440, 441) - you need a file 5.2 mm;

► for chains with a link width of 1.5 or 1.6 mm and a pitch of 0.325 "(for chainsaws MS 261C-MQ, 271, 291) round files with a diameter of 4.8 mm are used;

► for chains 1.1 mm and pitch 1/4 "(cordless saws MSA 120C, 160C, 160T, 200C) a file with a diameter of 3.2 mm is used;
