This lovely note from the "Bishop Hill Colony" comes from  an ill-fated colonization effort that succumbed to inner strife in 1861. The state repudiated this entire issue due to serious corruption involved in placing the order. As a result, no notes were ever issued to circulation and all are, therefore, technically remainders.

It is a fantastic investment grade example of a rare and popular type.  A flaming dream with deep fresh flashy ink color and blazing crisp freshness. Far more rare in this grade than others might imagine.
