Vintage bird rug with wool pile on a wool foundation with short, relatively even pile resulting in a rather thin, flexible textile. There are signs of age and wear throughout. Based on the design of the birds I would guess the rug dates to the 1940's. The rug does not hang straight and 2 feet of the selvedge lower left side would need attention if the rug were used on the floor. I have had it for about 10 years and always displayed it on the wall. It measures about 54 inches long not including the kilim ends or fringes by about 36 wide.
