Each volume has the ownership signature of John Haynes Holmes, the Unitarian minister, anti-war activist and NAACP and ACLU co-founder, with the note that it was purchased at the 1914 auction of the clergyman Thomas Roberts Slicer's library.
Top and bottom of spines chipped, bumped/worn corners, some other wear and chipping. Some endpapers detached and edge-torn. Pages yellowed (some unopened/uncut) with occasional foxing, nicks, minor blemishes. Bindings have cracking, remain serviceable.
