VINTAGE LAND ROVER 1955 EXPORT ADVERT
FREE UK POSTAGE

I have used for inspiration a selection of original black and white magazine adverts, that I have redrawn and re-coloured digitally, and re-typed all the lettering in the correct fonts to improve their quality. (No blurring, not a reprint etc).

The design for the original vehicle was started in 1947 by Maurice Wilks. Wilks, chief designer at the Rover Company, on his farm in Newborough, Anglesey, working in conjunction with his brother Spencer who was the managing director of Rover. The design may have been influenced by the Jeep and the prototype, later nicknamed Centre Steer, was built on a Jeep chassis and axles. The early choice of colour was dictated by military surplus supplies of aircraft cockpit paint, so early vehicles only came in various shades of light green; all models until recently feature sturdy box section ladder-frame chassis. Early vehicles like the Series I were field-tested at Long Bennington and designed to be field-serviced.

A vintage inspired car advert from a time gone by.
The artwork has been professionally reproduced and printed onto premium 200 gsm Lustre (satin) photographic poster paper using quality archival pigment inks to ensure vivid and rich coloured prints. Using high quality inks mean they are far more resistant to fading, however be careful hanging your print in direct sunlight. Actual colours may vary slightly as each monitor displays colours differently.

Paper sizes:

A4 (210 x 297mm).
A3 (297 x 420mm).
A2 (420 x 594mm).

The posters are rolled in a protective coating and then shipped in a rigid cardboard tube which guarantees its perfect condition.
