A rare Victorian swagger stick made of Zitan wood. It could be a walking cane as well. It may also be French. Zitan is know for its rarity, longevity and quality and only super wealthy important person can afford. Previous owner’s estate told me her grandfather was stationed in Asia in 1920-30s. Some of the items I acquired from the estate are old and have sold them off over the years. But I can’t figure out who the original owner of this stick belonged to. Maybe one day I will.

It weights over 10 oz, much heavier than made of other wood. This shows the density is Zitan. It’s heavier for its size. Please see the inscription on the top of the handle. Can’t recognize the letters. The item must once belonged to an important person, given the inscription, or signature on the tip of the handle. The wear of the silver shows it’s age- well over 100 years old. The bottom tip of the cane is a metal to protect from damage. The metal at the the lower part of the stick has a tiny crack. The color of the wood turns to complete dark, which is the character of Zitan wood.

Estate owner’s father was stationed in Far East during WWII. She wasn’t sure if this was abstained from there. Nonetheless it’s an incredible antique.

It’s in great antique condition,

Dimension: about 35” tall, 2 1/2” diameter (6 1/2cm)
