Johann Andreas Hirnschrot (1799 Nuremberg - 1845 Zurich) began his
studies at the Academy of Nuremberg in 1816; he exhibited there in 1820.
Thereafter he went to Paris and worked for some time as a painter on
porcelain at Sèvres porcelain factory. Later he devoted himself to
portrait miniatures. In 1828 he went to Switzerland and worked in
Geneva, Bern, Aarau and Zurich as a miniaturist and enamel.
