Tiger 131 SdKfz 181 PzKpfw VI Ausf.E

The only one in the world driving Tiger I (number 131). This vehicle was captured by soldiers of the 48th Royal Tank Regiment (48 RTR, A Squadron, 4 Troop) at Djebel Djaffa on April 21, 1943, in the last month of the campaign in Tunisia (Africa). He is the first Tiger to be captured intact by British and American troops. It was brought by the Germans to Tunisia between March 22 and April 16, 1943 and entered into combat with the 48th Royal Tank Regiment near Medjez-el-Bab on April 21, 1943.

He destroyed two Churchillas, but a shot from the 6-pound gun damaged the turret and wounded the commander. To save lives, the crew had to leave the tank. The damage is still visible in the yoke and front plates. Completely destroyed elements were replaced with parts from other tanks. In October 1943, the vehicle was shipped to England. The Tiger 131 is on display at the British The Tank Museum in Bovington.
