"M as Mila: Mila Schon," published by Electa, Milan, 2009. 370 pages, large hardcover in pictorial boards, 12.5” by 10”. Text in Italian. Rare and exceptional book on postwar Italian fashion designer Mila Schon and her striking work from the 60's through the 80's - impeccably tailored and sculpted, often with geometric and architectural elements and exquisite beading. Beautifully printed and designed, and arranged chronologically, with profuse period photos and color plates of original designs, advertisements, fashion shows, studio images, and more. Definitive designs for the hippie and disco eras, with influence from the Italian Kinetic and minimal art scenes (one group of long dresses inspired, for instance, by Lucio Fontana). The best book to date on this key Italian designer, most highly recommended. In fine condition except for one flaw, a one-inch impression and tear along the spine, where it was presumably crushed in shipping.
