This vintage Continental gilded silver perfume pomander dates from the early 1900's. The round lid cover is exceptionally decorated with an intricate openwork motif, chased with elaborate scroll, flower & tendril designs. The body of the pomander is detailed with a matching motif accenting & complementing the lid cover. The interior rim of the lid cover is stamped with an image of the head of a Roman with a helmet. Another hallmark, an image of the head of a boar or ram, is found near the center of the underside of the lid cover. The condition of this perfume collectible is very good & these hallmarks are visible with magnification. I believe it to be Austrian or French in origin.
