Antique Treadle Sewing Machine Drawer with Carved Pull and Silver Leaf Wood Applique Quarter Sawn Oak

This handsome drawer is solid Quarter Sawn Oak.  The side with the applique was gouged by fingernails during its years of you.  That one side was filled, sanded and painted a low lustre black and the applique was antiqued in silver leaf.  The rest of the drawer remains completely original with its finely alligatored finish.

The master drawer (sold) to this set which had a substantial applique can be seen in the last photo.

All this beauty for a sewing machine that today we take for granted.  The first thing that comes to mind when I see items like these is expert craftsmanship and quality of product.
