This is the full retail version of SQL Server 2008 R2 for Small Business Standard Edition - the full commercial use product with 5 CALs.
It has all the capabilities and powerful features of MS SQL 2008 R2 Standard Edition and is simply designed primarily to operate in an SBS environment such as SBS 2008/SBS 2008 R2/SBS 2011. While it headlines as being for an SBS environment (and is) it CAN also be run on a stand-alone non-SBS server if that server is also a domain controller and the only DC on that domain you create. The Active Directory Domain Controller role needs to be installed.
This is a highly cost effective SQL solution - in fact the most cost effective solution currently available to implement SQL.
What this is not: Apologies if this is labouring a point here but this item is NOT an MSDN version (supplied just in a CD box and for use only for evaluation purposes - the MSDN product is not for any commercial use - by Microsoft Developer Network professionals - sold commonly on eBay) Neither is it an Academic, Developer or Workgroup edition which all have limitations on their use and licensing conditions.

Caution: You are required under the Microsoft License terms to have the physical licence document with the attached tracking ID / Activation key in order to legally use any Microsoft Server product, including CALs, RDS CALS and Operating Systems. The only exception being if there is a volume licence agreement directly in place between your company and Microsoft. Tracking ID’s / Activation keys on their own are NOT enough to legally use the software. Be wary of people selling Tracking ID’s / Activation keys on their own as not only is it not legal they are also not guaranteed to work ongoing relying on another company’s volume license agreement staying in place.
