We use CNC milling instead of laser cutting because it provides the same level of precision with similar edge quality while allowing us to produce parts that won't fail in your tank. Each refugium kit is designed to take the guesswork out of putting your refugium/sump together which is why we assemble any components that need assembly prior to shipment. Our assembly process includes precision recess milling of all the mating surfaces, and bonding them with Weld-On® acrylic cement. This process is not possible with laser cut parts and it dramatically increases the surface area where the parts bond together. This makes our assembled parts exceptionally durable for lifelong, problem free operation. It also negates the need for you to purchase specialty acrylic cements, or worse yet use glue or silicone, to assemble the parts prior to installation. All you need is aquarium safe silicone to bond the parts to the tank and you are ready to go. There are lots of things that can go wrong in a saltwater tank.
