SPECTACULAR and intricate glazed ceramic stoneware sculpture of a flute player by German ceramic master Elfriede Balzar Kopp (1904-1983), produced circa 1930, designed and executed by the artist in her own studio in Höhr-Grenzhausen. The craftsmanship of this is extraordinary, with rich blue and brown earth tones to the glazes and a dynamite pattern to the back of the shirt. Large figure that measures 11” tall and 8” across at its widest. Artist's monogram of "B.K." written in clay on base. Balzar-Kopp was a key figure in German ceramics, specializing in salt-glazed ceramic stoneware. Piece is in excellent condition, free of chips or cracks, and with rich color.
