Thomas Ender was a famous Biedermeier artist, member of a Viennese artists' family. He studied under Moessmer and Steinfeld at the Vienna Academy, was strongly influenced by the works by Claude Lorrain and J.v.Ruisdael. The artist travelled to Brasil, lived for four years in Italy, for one year in Paris; in 1836 became Professor of the Vienna Academy.
