Description

From the Preface: '... it must be understood that I do not propose in any way to supersede the functions of the Professor ; no work, however practical in its method or comprehensive in its scope, can ever successfully pretend to such a result. All I hope to do is to supplement his efforts, by indicating as simply as possible the course of instruction necessary for the cultivation of the voice, and enable the pupil to study the same with a reasonable prospect of success.

My method will be found eminently practical and easy to understand ; the exercises, too, throughout the work have been written with great care, and with due regard to the progressive requirements of the pupil. In order to facilitate as far as possible the course of study, I have thought it advisable to treat each voice separately according to its individual characteristics, so that when once the general principles common to all phases of voice production have been thoroughly mastered, Students will be able to confine their attention to the particular chapters devoted to their respective voices, until such time as they are sufficiently proficient to practise the more advanced exercises which will be found at the end of the book.'

PB, 8.5 x 11", B&W illustration plus musical staves. I'm taking the date of 1929 from an inscription on the title page. Please note that this is an extremely battered copy, only just 'Acceptable', and it's sold very much as a working one only (I won't detail its flaws, unless you ask)! However, at the time of listing I can't find another for sale anywhere on the Net...

Shipping

Postage If you bid on items, you're accepting the quoted postal costs, which cover  envelopes, packing materials, stamps, and trips to the Post Office

I always get a Proof of Posting certificate, and if an item does get lost in the post I will forward it to you for you to make a claim, since as the Buyer you can claim the full amount of your loss

However, in over 20,000 parcels I've mailed out over the last fifteen years only about a dozen have gone astray, and most of these were overseas

If you're at all worried about losing something, do ask for Recorded Delivery - £1.30 extra in the UK and £7 for overseas

Non-UK buyers

I will mail you as soon as possible with both Airmail and Surface postal charges (or just Airmail if it's a very light item)

Airmail takes between three and five days. The Post Office warns that Surface mail to the USA, Australia, etc, can take as long as 12 weeks, but it is, obviously, a lot cheaper

In practice, American buyers tell me that Surface mail usually takes between 14 and 21 days (and apparently it actually travels by air, filling any space after the official Airmail items are loaded)
