twenty-three years before federation, divided into five British
colonies: New South Wales,
Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and Western Australia.

There is wonderful detail throughout, with hundreds of place names, including
Arnhem Land, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melville, Nuyts Land, Great Barrier
Reef, King George Sound, Dirk Hartog Island, Dampier Archipelago, Frome
River, Bass Strait,
Kangaroo Island, Coral Sea, and Perth.

The map also labels the route of explorers Sturt, Giles, and Forest, and it
shows the route of the overland telegraph line through the Northern Territory.

a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be
genuine. It was published in an American edition of the 9th
Encyclopædia Britannica, 1878.
