Ernst Wahliss

(Austrian, 1837–1900)

Gorgeous figurine depicting a mother tending to her son as he goes to bed. Part of a collection from an estate.

The little boy is finely dressed with a rattle in his hand and harlequin doll on his lap. A toy drum lies on the floor, and blanket behind the cot. His mother is dressed in a pretty  dress, wearing a lilac hat as she puts her arm around her son’s shoulder (probably encouraging him that it is bedtime.)

Lovely detailed modeling and decoration and lots of gilded highlighting.

Marked on base with impressed Austria marking..

It measures 7 ¾”" high, 7 ½”" wide and 6" deep.
