Handsome, antique,
interior door salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern PA. It's made of solid Douglas Fir or
pine,
and is painted white on both sides.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine
hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have
the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities
that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also
much harder and stronger than young pine.
The door has a Victorian style, 5-panel arrangement with
4 vertical panels divided by a small horizontal panel. The panels are raised on
both sides.
Hardware:
The door is not equipped with any hardware. However,
we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit them (check out our eBay
store).

Uneven Size:
The door's height and width were unevenly cut by 1/4",
the cuts were made most likely to compensate for a warped floor or sagging
foundation. We could cut the door to an even 27 3/8" x 79 1/4", cut it
shorter/narrower, or even build it up to a larger size--email us
for a quote.
Condition: The
door is strong, sturdy, and in excellent condition. it only has nicks
and scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious
issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will
disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and
whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks"
Strip/Refinish: We could
refinish or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to
repaint or refinish. We have MANY
photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how this
door could clean up. Email

a quote.
Swing:
The door is set up to swing into a room towards the right or away from a room
towards the left. We can change the swing---Message us for a quote.
Modification: We could also modify the door to fit your opening or suite your
needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace panels with glass, plug the
hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what
you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
