Offered is a Byzantine period oil lamp (600-640 AD). The ancient piece is encased in a massive square of Lucite. It is constructed with a red clay body and has a large opening in its middle and another smaller one within the narrow neck. Reference the images for the best description of this piece. The oil lamp measures 4” long, 2 5/8” wide and is 1 ½” deep. It is incased in a massive Lucite cube that measures 4 ½” wide, 2 3/8” deep and is almost 3” tall. The ancient piece features hair-line cracks, but the lamp’s body is totally intact. The piece is labelled “Byzantine Period Oil Lamp 600-640 AD” A wonderful display, collector’s piece.
