Ted Allbeury Archive - Typescript of Radio Adaptation of Pay Any Price with Allbeury's Handwritten Changes

Description: We have acquired a small archive of material by Ted Allbeury which we are now listing in lots.

This lot comprises typescripts for each of the ten episodes of the radio adaptation of the novel Pay Any Price. Allbeury wrote the adaptation himself, and has made extensive changes in pencil to the typescripts, including one whole section of handwritten material (see first picture). The first episode is marked in pencil by Allbeury "Third Edition February 1983".

The adaptation was eventually broadcast in ten weekly parts ending on 7 September 1983, and starred Barry Foster.

Total weight of this lot is 0.85 kilograms.

The Ted Allbeury Archive formed part of the collection of the great bibliographer and collector George Locke.

Ted Allbeury (1917-2005) began his brilliant writing career in 1972, having previously been a spy and a pioneer of pirate radio.

Provenance: Over many years, we have bought thousands of items from the collection of the celebrated bibliographer and book dealer George Locke (1936-2019).
