Anlässlich des 450. Jubiläums der Schlacht von Lepanto, hat Spanien diese 50 Euro Silbermünze ausgegeben. Sie ist eine von zwei in Farbe geprägten Münzen, welche die Real Casa de la Moneda dem historischen Event gewidmet hat. Das Motiv zeigt eine detaillierte Darstellung der Schlacht von Lepanto in Farbe. Die Aufschriften "BATALLA DE LEPANTO", "1571-2021" und "50 EURO" sind ebenfalls im Design enthalten. Auf der Rückseite sind die Porträts von Álvaro de Bazán y Guzmán (links), Don Juan de Austria (rechts) und Philipp II. von Tizian (Mitte) zu sehen. Als weiteres Detail wurde "Piken" ins Design mit eingearbeitet, eine bevorzugte Waffe der damaligen spanischen Truppen. Die Schlacht von Lepanto fand am 7. Oktober 1571 im Golf von Patras an der Westküste Griechenlands statt und war die letzte und größte Seeschlacht, die von Rudergaleeren ausgetragen wurde. Hierbei kämpften und gewannen die christlichen Mittelmeermächte um Spanien, unter der Führung von Papst Pius V., gegen das Osmanische Reich. Die Lieferung der Euro-Silbermünze in Polierter Platte erfolgt im Original-Etui inklusive einem Echtheits-Zertifikat.

On the occasion of the 450th Anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, Spain has issued this 50 euro silver coin. It is one of two coins minted in color by the Real Casa de la Moneda in dedication of the historic event. The motive depicts a colorful image of the Battle of Lepanto. The inscriptions "BATALLA DE LEPANTO", "1571-2021" and "50 EURO" are also included in the design. The reverse features the portraits of Álvaro de Bazán y Guzmán (left), Don Juan de Austria (right) and Philip II by Titian (center). As another detail, "pikes" were incorporated into the design, a preferred weapon of the Spanish troops of that time. The Battle of Lepanto took place on October 7th, 1571 in the Gulf of Patras on the west coast of Greece and was the last and largest naval battle fought by rowing galleys. Here, the Christian Central Powers fought and won with Spain, under the leadership of Past Pius V., against the Ottoman Empire. The Euro silver coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
