Photograph Notes: English Electric "Balloon" car 702 originally entered service with Blackpool Corporation as an open top streamliner numbered 239 in September 1934. Along with Blackpools other open topped trams 239 was converted to a totally enclosed car in 1942 making it suitable for all year round use as there was no work for open topped vehicles during the war and there was a shortage of available enclosed double deckers. The tram received its new fleet number of 702 when the full fleet was renumbered in 1968.
