Photograph Notes: Greyhound is heading north from Bewdley accompanied by the music of its two Maybach diesel engines. Greyhound is one of the 36 Warship diesel hydraulic engines built at Swindon and was outshopped in 1960. It is 60' long and weighs 78 tons. Maximum speed was 90 mph. The two Bristol Siddeley Maybach MD650 engines are each good for 1135 horsepower at 1530 rpm and the tractive effort is 48,200 lbf. Although I am a steam fan, I had long fancied both seeing one of these in motion and riding behind it. I was not disappointed. Lovely bit of kit!
