Company was located in Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania.

Also a very dramatic full pg. ad for Ma-Le-Na Worn Tablets. A tiger is shown killing an animal with text relating the sure death caused for humans by worms.

Also advertised is Ma-Le-Na Stomach Liver Pills, Nature’s Gentle Laxative. By today’s advertising standards, this is a very dramatic presentation - Save Your Life! But at this time period and before, humans lived with death in a frequency beyond our imagination today.

Very, very bright colors in lacquer finished covers. 13 illustrations, 5 of which are full color.

Of note is one full page illustration showing a girl & boy playing horsie with a toy wheeled horse and a toy wheeled donkey. The boy is wearing a child’s sailor shirt. This is a hold-over effect from the 1880’s in clothing when sailor influenced design came strongly into civilian clothing, especially with children’s clothing.

This stemmed from the intense self-consciousness of the United State Government in finding that our Navy ranked low in the international scale of countries’ navies. In response we rebuilt our Navy in the 1880’s and ended up in the top 3 internationally of high ranked navies.

This is a good example of how print advertising is a reveal of our culture at the advertisement’s time of production.
