This uniquely shaped coin was issued to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Shrek™. "Shrek" was released in 2001 and at the time was the most elaborate computer-animated motion picture ever produced. The coin recreates the chatty and venturesome companion Donkey, one of the main characters from the Shrek™ movies. The reverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the year of issue "2021" and the denomination "TWO DOLLARS." In the film, Lord Farquaad™ has numerous fairy tale characters occupy the swamp that is home to the staunchly solitary Shrek™ in an attempt to persuade the green ogre to rescue Princess Fiona™. Accompanied by the talking donkey, Shrek™ eventually embarks on an adventurous journey that later evolves into a romance, illuminating the sensitive side of the supposedly rude ogre.
