map of Nebraska,
printed more than 137 years ago.
- It shows counties, cities,
towns,
railroads, military reservations, and natural features.
- A large
Sioux County stretches eastward from the northwest corner of the state, past Cheyenne
and Cherry counties to the edge of Loup County.
- Other named places and features include Lincoln, Omaha, Fort Robinson,
Camp Clarke, Dublin, Atkinson, Platte River, Tecumseh, Red Cloud,
Boiling Spring, Fort Niobrara, Ponca, Grand Island, Fremont, and the Dismal River.
- The image area measures 19.5 x 27 cm [7¾" x 10½"], and
longitude is measured from Greenwich and Washington.
- Cartography is by W.&A.K. Johnston, and the map was issued
in the 9th edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica,
published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, in 1884.
- Condition: It is in excellent condition,
bright
and clean, with no
rips, tears, or writing. There is a vertical center fold, as issued,
and the map is blank on the back, with no printing
