Late Iron Age Artifact as identified by chief finds officer at British Museum.

Said to possibly be from Brigantes northern tribe.

Found very close to Braintree in Essex.

Some sort of brooch or tunic clasp, pin or fitting at the back is missing.

Seems to be made from a lead alloy, is as heavy as would be expected from lead but not soft enough to be just lead (cannot be bent by hand).

Still has quite a bit of gold gilt on it.

Centre appears to be a sun design.

Is concave in shape.

Height is approx 1/2” inch. Diameter is approx 2 1/4” inches.

It weighs approx 85.76 grams.
