- The map is printed on laid
paper and has a decorative rococo title cartouche with
distance scale.
- The image area measures
18.2 x 28.5 cm [7¼" x 11¼"], and the coverage area extends
from Philadelphia to the Staunton River, east to the Atlantic Ocean.
- Topography is delineated pictorially, and the map labels
numerous cities,
towns, and natural features, including Cape May, Fredericksburg,
Delaware Bay, Williamsburg, Richmond, Cape Henry, Annapolis,
Petersburg,
Winchester, the Potomac River (spelled Patowmack), Lancaster, Norfolk,
Oxford, Cape Henlopen, Barnegat Inlet, and Fort Cumberland, an important military and
economic center during
the French and Indian War.
- Condition: It is in very fine condition,
a
bold, crisp impression, bright and clean, with wide margins, two
vertical
folds, as issued, and no
marks, rips, or
tears. It is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side.
