Known through their publications in Neil Jeffares' "Dictionary of pastelists before 1800" (for clips from the online edition of this dictionary, see our image), these two superior quality pastel portraits of a young (probably French) married couple are important works of well-known 18th-century Swiss pastelist Jean-Francois Guillibaud (1718 Geneva - 1799 ibidem; for his biography, see our image).
