History of Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a polyphenol that is naturally found in sources such as grapes, blueberries, cranberries, billberries and peanuts. Perhaps the most well-known and discussed source of resveratrol is red wine. Research suggests that resveratrol is a key ingredient in red wine that protects from damage to blood vessels, protects blood clots and reduces your levels of LDL (low-density lipoprotein known as “bad” cholesterol). This polyphenol has been the subject of much research and study for several years, but resveratrol has been used for years. In 1940, resveratrol was identified in the roots of a Japanese plant known as white hellebore. Years later, in 1963, resveratrol was also found in the roots of Japanese knotweed, which was used traditionally in Chinese and Japanese medicine. Research and development for resveratrol has provided doctors and researchers with a wide range of the possible health benefits of consuming resveratrol.

What Is Resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a polyphenic bioflavonoid antioxidant that’s produced by certain plants and found in foods and drinks that are known to halt the effects of aging. Resveratrol is classified as a phytoestrogen because of its ability to interact with estrogen receptors in a positive way. Plants that produce resveratrol and other types of antioxidants actually do so partly as a protective mechanism and response to stressors within their environments, including radiation, the presence of insects or other predators, injury, and fungal infections. Today, resveratrol is believed to be one of the most potent polyphenols and strongest protectors against symptoms associated with aging and free radical damage. The benefits of resveratrol were first discovered when researchers found that yeast and other microbes, insects and animals fed resveratrol experienced an increased life span as a result.

Health Benefits of Resveratrol

Resveratrol is particularly unique as its antioxidants can cross the blood-brain barrier to protect the brain and the nervous system, unlike other antioxidants. Recent studies done by researchers at the Nutrition Research Center at Northunbria University in the U.K. showed that resveratrol noticeably increased blood flow to the brain, suggesting a considerable benefit to healthy brain function and neuroprotective effects. In an Australian study of overweight hypertensive men and post-menopausal women, researchers monitored resveratrol’s effect on the brachial artery, the major artery of the upper arm. Impaired blood flow in this vessel is linked to risk factors such as obesity and hypertension. After consuming of a highly bioactive form of resveratrol, participants demonstrated a significant and rapid increase of blood flow within the hour.

Resveratrol for Endurance Enhancement

Resveratrol has protecting the endothelial lining of your arteries. Also it reducing oxidative stress, which protect premature aging of cells, blocking the production of nf kappa b, a powerful, noxious inflammatory agent, provide cellular support that improves mental function, and promotes oral/dental health. It may surprise you to learn that resveratrol, most commonly associated with wine, has many benefits that may not only help you in your next trip to the gym, but could also you enhance your opportunity to age more gracefully. According to a 2012 Canadian study, resveratrol supplementation could provide similar skeletal muscle benefits as endurance training. resveratrol supplementation also resulted in an increase of endurance, oxidative metabolism, and enhanced cardiac function.

Resveratrol increasing energy production and anti-inflammatory effects

Resveratrol has the ability to regulate angiogenesis, thereby protecting the abnormal growth of blood vessels that are damaging to eyesight. Other eye-friendly foods to consider include omega-3 fatty fish, as well as foods rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Resveratrol is one of favorite supplements. Using this for increasing the amplitude of circadian rhythm, increasing energy production and for anti-inflammatory effects. Resveratrol makes feel like excess energy. Resveratrol is a beneficial compound found in red wine that is associated with life extension and some of the health benefits in wine. It is produced in grapes as a defense against toxins, and is abundant in the skins. Resveratrol is effective in inhibiting or reversing some of the effects of aging like osteoporosis, sarcopenia, mental processes.

Resveratrol for Testosterone Boost

There are testosterone replacement therapies that could be effective. According to a Korean study, resveratrol may also be an option. The study concluded that blood testosterone concentration was improved by more than 50% following a 28-day period of resveratrol consumption. Neurological blood flow was increased following resveratrol consumption. Prior to that study, Illinois researchers discovered that receiving resveratrol supplementation had better memory function and overall increased mental performance. Resveratrol appears to reduce seizures and hippocampal neurotoxicity. Resveratrol acts on glial cells which are  involved in neurotransmission and it has been noted to increase glutamate uptake into glial cells. Resveratrol induces the antioxidant enzyme, heme-oxygenase 1, which is linked to neuroprotection.

Resveratrol enhances aerobic performance.

Resveratrol can help conditions in which bile flow is obstructed by inhibiting MMP-2 and MMP-9. Resveratrol protect and improves Nonalcoholic Fatty liver problem. It protects liver damage. Also Resveratrol has positive effect on muscle growth. Resveratrol supplementation enhances aerobic performance. Resveratrol has a good anti-radiation effect. Resveratrol has a protective effect on noise-induced hearing loss. Resveratrol also protects toxicity of ear caused by cisplatin. High doses of Resveratrol can increase Testosterone. Resveratrol could act as an Estrogen agonist or Estrogen antagonist. Resveratrol inhibited herpes virus infection. Resveratrol had an antibacterial effect on Haemophilus ducreyi. Resveratrol, when taken along with few compounds, shows enhanced functioning.
