We are offering this Dramatic World War I Dogfight scene. It is an Original, unsigned, Oil on Canvas from the mid 20th C. (1940's -50's). While unsigned, the artist is quite talented, imbuing a sense of the chase and the ultimate victory scored, as the German bi plane is streaking downward, fire and smoke streaming behind it from the barrage of the American war plane, which we see from a marvelous angle, revealing its details. The clouds are also wonderfully rendered, highlighted by the sun and luminous in the sky. The piece is wonderfully detailed and the color palette is surprisingly fresh.
1" Wide Dark Brown wood reverse moulding with a 2" white painted liner is included complementary in this listing. We believe the frame is original to the piece.
Canvas measures 12 1/2 X 16 and is in Very Good Vintage condition.
Outside measure of the frame is 17 X 20 3/4 and is in Good Vintage condition.
Please carefully examine all images for condition.
