This was a hard one to research, and I am doing my best to identify it. The best I can fathom - is that the main name here appears to be attached to the
Boyntons - also referred to as Byington Family
The Crest/Coat of Arms of the Boyntons has all the references
in their crest of the Goat, the Knight/Helmets, the Gold Shield with 3 Gormets/Crescents, with the red bar going through it. They also have the Motto
shown here: IL TEMPO PASSA which means "Time Passes".
The trouble is identifying the rest of the crest references. The Motto:
MANNERS MAKYTH MAN - is the personal motto of WILLIAM OF WYKEHAM, also known as The Bishop of Winchester, and also past member of THE ORDER OF GARTER AT WINDSOR. There are many references here, to connect this name, with this family crest. The motto is the first, there are symbols on the right side (under the Ox/Bull) that tie to The Order of Garter. The red with gold lions on it - these are on some of their pageant uniforms, and also the framed white with black symbols - is also shown in some of their garments. I can't say for sure, if Wykeham is part of this crest - but there are a lot of similarities if you research the name - and pull up the banners of The Order of The Garter, and research their clothing, you will see similar symbols. Wykeham founded New College and Winchester College - so, some of these crests could go back to the colleges and/or Windsor connections. I found no "Exact Match" that showed all the elements in this art all together in one place.
Art is on black board or wood
Appears to be painted, but could be some other process, but looks very nice.
Frame: Looks like wood, but is some other type of product, but it is very well done, and on the wall it just looks beautiful. Not sure where the art came from, but it was professionally framed at the Picture House Gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Item purchased from auction, and age is unknown. Framed in Charlotte, but art could have come from somewhere else. Selling as shown, with unknown media on board, framed in newer frame to look like the old ornate frames. Made of likely a resin or other molded quality material. Very good quality - but as it was not mine, I can't vouch for the exact materials. Heavy - 7 pounds.
CONDITION/NOTES: Good pre-owned condition. Framed board art, is not under glass. Date of art is unknown, newer I'd say. Frame is likely some type of man made product, but looks just like old wood ornate frames. Solid - weighs 7 pounds. Outer dimensions are 19" x 21". Conditional notes: Very good, frame appears to be in good condition, a few specs of gold loss on frame, but very minor. Art has a few finger prints on black area, I did not clean this - as I am not sure what the media is, so I don't want to wipe it with something that may damage it - will leave to new owner. Very nice, well done piece. I will be listing 3 more, of different name origins shortly. Box will be oversized. Please view all photos, as they are part of the description/condition. The name referenced is the best I can make out, doing research. I am NO EXPERT at Crests/Coats of Arms - and could be wrong. Please do your own research, if purchasing as an exact name crest - as I was unable to locate a crest/coat of arms exactly like this one. Boynton/Byington is the closest, and all their elements are here, but so are a lot of others - and likely belong to other members of their bloodline/marriage families over the years.
