these 4" valves have socket ends designed to take 4" pipe, which has an outside diameter of 114.3mm. The size name of the valve denotes the size of pipe it takes. Inch size names do not measure the same as an inch on a ruler. For a permanent fixture use Solvent Weld Cement/Glue.
